Confetti Corky is what happens when  Shy Stilletto and I get together the creativity be flowing and when the smoke clears it’s always fabulous. Which is why I love working with her and we even brought Shefon Nachelle out of a self inflicted retirement.This session was like a reunion as it has been 2+ years since myself and Shy have worked with Shefon, especially since she’s been busy with her non profit company. Although it has been a few ticks since we worked together you wouldn’t think so the way everyone clicked together in the studio.

The thing I love most about working with Shefon is that her natural beauty doesn’t affect the way she treats people. I mean this woman has a awesome sense of humor, is very-very humble and kind to everyone she meets. In all honestly I don’t know why some lucky guy hasn’t married her yet, but hey that’s their loss as she would make any man proud to her their own.

And she’s so animated it’s too funny, most models try to come off as playful but with Shefon it’s all natural. She can crack jokes with the best of them and her spirit is oh so wonderful. I mean I can’t recall ever seeing her not in a positive mood. Which in this business is a rarity itself as most wear their negative feelings on their sleeves and have no trouble in sharing it with anyone who will form a pity parade for them.

It was a awesome feeling getting Shefon back in front of the camera and what better way to welcome her back to the modeling biz (if only for just a short moment). The end result was better than we all anticipated. And between Shefon and I cracking jokes and Shy playing some remix to All Gold Everything with GOD in place of Gold this session was one of the more memorable ones we’ve done together.

The concept for this session kind of just happened, my daughter had some confetti laying around my workstation which is where Shy, Shefon and myself were discussing what to create. So Shy opted to take the colors of the confetti and use that as the base for Shefon’s makeup. After the makeup was done we needed to figure out how to get the confetti to stick to the model’s face without damaging her skin. And since the session was so impromptu we didn’t have the normal supplies around. We ended up using Vaseline to keep the confetti in place.

For this shoot I used a AB800 in a 22 inch beauty dish with diffusion sock directly on camera axis slightly above the model. I also ended up using my Nikon D300 with a 50mm f/1.4.

I’m very much pleased with the end result.
